What’s in Store at Royal Canadian Mint this October?

2016-10-12 Wed

The Royal Canadian Mint has once again come up with extremely innovative and unique designs for its October releases. One of them is the ultra-high relief five kilogram fine silver coin celebrating Canada’s West Coast Haida culture and well-known artist Charles Edenshaw. The reverse design features the mythical lion in its 1882 argillite box carving.

A 1 Kg 2016 $250 fine silver coin celebrates Canadian circulation coins with a selectively gold-plated engraving of the Canadian Coat of Arms. The 2017 5 oz. Big Coin Series will celebrate the 1967 designs of Alex Colville like the flying Canada goose. The $10 fine silver Passion to Play coloured coin series with textured engraving depicts seven scenes from youth hockey pick-up games with the team logo of each Canadian NHL® city.

Other coins for the month include 2016 $20 Fine Silver Coin – Autumn Tranquility; the 2017 $250 Pure Gold Coin – Maple Canopy: Kaleidoscope of Colour; a new 99.999% pure gold Canada 150 Iconic Maple Leaf coin, featuring the Walter Ott design of the Sugar Maple leaf; The 2016 $20 Fine Silver Coin with Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children; The 2016 $20 Fine Silver Coin – Second World War Battlefront Series remembering The Battle of Hong Kong; the one of its kind 2016 $20 Fine Silver Coin – The Colourful Wings of a Butterfly with agate embellishment; The 2017 $20 Fine Silver Coin – Brilliant Birch Leaves with Drusy Stone; The 2017 $3 Fine Silver Coin – The Spirit of Canada and many more.
